LAMICS (Laser aided aqua-jet Accurate Micro Cuting System)

LAMICS has a new microfabrication technology combined laser and water jet techniques SBY has been accumulated. Utilizing the principle of total reflection at the water and air interface, the laser beam is kept in the several tens of µm diameter of water jet. This enables the laser processing with water-cooling and cleaning capability.
- Laser processing unaffected by heat effect, dross and debris
LAMICS which combines both laser and water jet properties enables laser processing unaffected by heat effect, dross and debris.
| processing accuracy | processing speed | heat effect | dross and debris | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| laser(dry) | o | o | x | x |
| water jet | x | x | o | o |
| LAMICS | o | o | o | o |
- No focusing needed
LAMICS can keep the laser beam with processable energy into several tens of mm length of water jet. As long as within this range of laser beam, no focusing is needed for processing.

A laser beam which is not absorbed by water can be kept in the water jet.
From fundamental laser to third harmonic can be used in YAG laser.

Generally, metals absorb short wavelength laser beam well. Selecting a wavelength according to the material’s light absorption characteristics makes the process easier.
