Shibuya's EB sterilization is the first method in the world, which carries out the bottle sterilization by irradiating PET bottles using an Electron Beam. This method does not use water or chemicals to sterilize the bottle, therefore running costs are low and environmentally friendly.

Shibuya's EB system reduces the number of Critical Control Points (CCP). Fewer CCPs provide easy operation and easy validation.

A conventional chemical sterilization system has 7 CCPs for validation and daily production management. These points require complex and specialized operation techniques.

The EB system, however, has only 2 CCPs for validation and dairy operation: voltage and electric current.

The EB system has many advantages which contribute to the drastic reduction of the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Although the capital cost is slightly higher initially, operating, electricity, steam, compressed air, chemical, container and utility costs are vastly reduced.
